Guangxi Mangrove Research Center/Guangxi Marine Environment and Coastal Wetland Research Center
Guangxi Mangrove Research Center approved by the People’s Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region was established in December 1991. Approved by the Establishment committee of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Guangxi Mangrove Research Center became an independent Unit in 2001, and directly under the Guangxi Academy of Sciences. In order to strengthen the comprehensive research and service ability of Guangxi Marine science and to the characteristics of Guangxi Marine resources, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region’s People’s government in 2004 designated the Guangxi Mangrove Research Center as a public institution, and added the brand of “Guangxi marine Environment and Coastal Wetland Research Center”.
Guangxi Mangrove Research Center is a comprehensive and commonweal marine scientific research institution in Guangxi. The main research objects are mangrove, seaweed, coral reef, salt marshes and coastal vegetation, focusing on the mechanism of interaction between subsystems, developing protection and recovery methods, exploring rational utilization patterns, establishing ecological monitoring and management GIS system, and providing scientific and technological guarantee for the restoration and management of marine environmental protection in Beibuwang Gulf.
