Dr. Liao Xin participate ‘International Conference on the Cambrian Explosion (ICCE-2019)’
The Cambrian Chengjiang biota of South China provides compelling fossil evidence for the rapid appearance of metazoan phyla in the Earth history (the ‘Cambrian explosion’). This year of 2019 is the 35th anniversary of the discovery of Chengjiang biota. The ICCE-2019 took place in Chengjiang, Yunnan, China from November 11th to 15th, under the organizing of Nanjing Institute of Geology and Paleontology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, National Natural Science Foundation of China, et al. More than one hundred of experts and scholars involved in the study of co-evolution of animals and environment during the Precambrian-Cambrian interval were invited to participate in this conference.
Dr. Liao Xin, the associate research professor of our center was invited to participate in the meeting and give a report of forty minutes with the title ‘Origin of adaptive immunity -insights from amphioxus’. In the report, Dr. Liao introduced the recent study on the origin of adaptive immunity using the ‘living fossil’ -amphioxus as animal model, and then shown how to use an eDNA technique to survey the macrobenthos diversity in mangrove wetland. The report received critical acclaim. Dr. Liao discussed future cooperation with the experts.（By Liao Xin）
